Description

Elliot Blueberry Bush

Fall Bearing Blueberries! Harvest high flavored nutritious fruits until the frosty days of autumn. ‘Elliott’ is a northern highbush blueberry bush. Huge crops up to 25 pounds of medium size berries will be harvested from the extremely winter hardy variety. Plants are very productive, upright and grow vigorously, and are considered the latest of all varieties, fruiting through September. Rich flavored fruits are tart in the beginning of the season but flavors change to pure sweetness as their fruits ripen in the coolness of Autumn. Fruit needs to be picked fully ripe for best taste. An excellent choice for extending the season.

The 5-6′ tall bushes become a blaze of crimson, deep red and burgundy in the fall, so they are ideally arranged as an informal hedge. Set plants 4-8′ apart and make sure the soil is acidic. You’ll have fresh blueberries for pies and preserves for many, many years. ‘Elliott’ bears more fruit at an earlier age than other varieties. Large, firm fruits with delicious sweet flavor. Vigorous plants.

Blueberries are considered a beautiful productive hedge with spring flowering on dark green foliage, delicious fruit in summer and fiery red foliage for autumn color. Set plants out as early as possible in the spring. Prune branches back about 1/2 their length at planting time with no further pruning required the next 3 years. Prune annually thereafter during the dormant period.
